Disaster research response examines the impacts of disasters and public health emergencies on human health. The EDGE Disaster Research Response (DR2) program works with EDGE investigators to strengthen their DR2 study designs, grant proposals and protocols. It trains EDGE investigators on rigorous, safe and ethical conduct for disaster research and guides investigators on best practices for working with the UW Human Subjects Division.
Past projects have included hosting a workshop to convene experts across the region to discuss research protocols for major Pacific Northwest hazards, as well as partnering with a community-based organization and state and local public health agencies to assess pre- and post-disaster needs in highly impacted communities in the Duwamish Valley.
